It’s a little hard to fathom that Mission Basilica, one of the most influential and celebrated Catholic schools in Orange County, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Since its inception, Mission Basilica and its dedicated staff have worked tirelessly to promote our value system while shaping and guiding young minds.

A Long and Glorious Tradition

Mission Basilica opened its doors in 1928, and we have always been a nonprofit institution. Our foremost desire is for our young charges to reach their full potential, and to that end, we promote a rigorous curriculum and encourage both academic excellence and the upholding of the tenets of the Catholic faith. The environment we created 90 years ago was one of acceptance and diversity, and that is a path that we continue to follow to this day.

By nurturing the children that are entrusted to us, we are allowing them to grow in their emotional, spiritual, and academic lives. We believe in the importance of tradition, but at the same time, we are never hesitant to incorporate the latest teaching techniques and amend our curriculum when it is appropriate to do so. Our staff is always excited for the start of another school year when we get to see our returning students and are introduced to a group of new ones who are starting their journey with us.

We Prepare Children for their Future

This year’s theme, “Be the Light of Christ” is a reminder to be kind to those around us and to be respectful of people from all walks of life. We are teaching our students that only through opening their hearts and minds will they truly be doing Christ’s work and spreading his message.  

We are tremendously proud to be celebrating 90 years in Orange County, and we are just getting started.
