At Mission Basilica, we always pride ourselves on being one of the leading Catholic schools in Orange County. We remain committed to being a bastion of the Catholic faith as we sculpt young minds through academic rigor and the encouragement to do good works. We believe that the early institution of moral values and the desire to commit charitable acts can be the bedrock for making solid citizens who contribute meaningfully to society.

This Year’s Theme

We are extremely excited to celebrate our 90th year in existence, and we took special care in the choosing of our theme. “Be the Light of Christ” comes from Matthew 5:14-16, and we feel that it epitomizes our values perfectly.

As always, we will take care to incorporate the theme into every aspect of the school-going experience for our pupils. Every year we expect that our students will conform to the Schoolwide Learning Experience of “Being a Faith-Filled Catholic.” This expectation and this year’s theme will go hand in hand, as being a responsible Catholic in Orange County means that in addition to guiding your life with the principles of Christ’s love, we should also strive to leave the world a better place than we found it.

To do that, our students should make a sincere effort to be all-around good people, humble, conscientious, kind, and patient. That should be their intention both when they are on school grounds and when they take our message out into the world.

Acts of kindness and responsible decision making go hand in hand. If our young people get in the habit of considering others before themselves, then they are less likely to behave poorly, because they will be able to see how inappropriate actions hurt other people. Empathy is what leads to being responsible young adults, and that is what we strive to create at Mission Basilica, true now as it has been for the past 90 years.
We are truly thrilled to continue helping your children learn and grow, and we are confident that this year will be a special one. We are a faith-based community at Mission Basilica, as are all of the Catholic schools in Orange County, and all of the staff work very hard to make the environment welcoming and rewarding for all of our pupils. Parents, let’s encourage the wholesome behavior we see from our children, proof positive that they are taking this year’s theme to heart.
